Adriano signs 4 year contract with FC Barcelona
On Monday Adriano Correia was presented to the pubic becoming the first player signed by new president Sandro Rosell. The presentation took place in front of the media only at Sala Paris due to the construction currently taking place to renovate the Camp Nou.
Adriano signed with FC Barcelona on Saturday for four years with a reported 90 million euro buyout clause. The ex-Sevilla winger will wear number 21 which was formerly worn by the recently departed Chygrynskiy.
The 25 year old Brazilian played six seasons with Sevilla making 216 appearances which included two back-to-back UEFA Cup Championships. Adriano will be reunited with his ex-teamates Dani Alves and Seydou Keita both signing with Barcelona following stints with Sevilla.
In today’s press conference head coach Pep Guardiola commented that the signing of Adriano brings the team some versatility and that “he can play out wide on either wing, in midfield or defense. I’m convinced he’ll fit in quickly.”
After being officially presented Adriano took a few minutes to speak with the press. He commented that he did not think twice about signing with Barcelona. “I was very excited. I didn’t think twice about it and now I’m really pleased to have the chance to defend the Barça colors. This was something I couldn’t let pass by.”
He added “I’m comfortable playing in any of the four positions out wide. This is the best team in the world and I’m going to give everything for this club.”
