On Saturday FC Barcelona announced that they have reached an agreement with Rafael Marquez to terminate the players contract with the club.

The 31 year old Mexican defender has been with the club since 2003, making 242 appearances (eighth all time or a foreign player). During his run he won four league titles, two Champions Leagues, the World Club Cup, the European Super Cup, the Spanish Cup and three Spanish Super Cups.

Over the past couple years Marquez has seen his playing time decrease mostly due to injuries. Though he has been rumored to be making a move to the New York Red Bulls and joining Thierry Henry, no official announcement as to his future has been released.

A farewell ceremony for Marquez will take place Saturday evening at the Camp Nou and will be hosted by club president Sandro Rosell.
