On December 20th FC Barcelona and 20 year old striker Bojan Krkic agreed to a contract extension with the club until 2015.

For Krkic the new contract gives the 20 year old striker some comfort that his place with the club is highly valued. There had been speculation that Krkic would be used as trade bait to bring in a new player during the transfer period since his performance with the club has yet to reach the same heights as it did three years ago under Frank Rijkaard.

The new contract with the club also includes a 100 million euro buyout clause (increased from the previous 50 million).

Krkic has been with the club since age 11 and his youth career at La Masia has been heralded because of the rumored 1000 plus goals he netted during his time before finally making it to the senior squad.

Following the meeting with Sandro Rosell, Krkic spoke to the media regarding his new contract, saying “I’m happy for the peace of mind this has given me and for having the chance to continue growing at the club of my life.”
