FC Barcelona agree to shirt sponsor deal with Qatar Foundation for a record 165 million euros

Qatar Foundation become FC Barcelona first ever kit sponsor. Qatar Foundation

In a move likely to ignite anger and frustration in many FC Barcelona supporters, the club on Friday announced that they have come to an agreement with the Qatar Foundation to become the first ever corporate sponsor to appear on club kits.

FC Barcelona’s marketing department now has the difficult task of trying to place a corporate sponsors logo on the club kit while still keeping the UNICEF logo as part of their continuing association with the childrens foundation.

A club spokesman said that if this was not possible then the UNICEF logo would take priority (for the amount of money Qatar Foundation is paying something tells me they will figure a way to get the logo on the kit).

The agreement which runs through the 2015/16 season will bring the club a record 165 million euros for a corporate kit sponsor.

Qatar Foundation was founded in 1995 by the emir of Qatar and is focused on projects in education, science and developing communities, along with many other corporate ventures.

Look to see the new kit soon since the agreement will bring the club 15 million euros for the sponsorship through the end of this season.
