Carles Puyol out two to three months following successful knee surgery
Captain Carles Puyol has successful knee surgery on Wednesday to remove a detached piece of cartlage from his left knee.
The surgery was carried out by Dr. Cugat who held a press conference at the camp Nou following the surgery. He shared with the press that the injury is something that has been nagging Puyol over the past four months. They suspect the injury was first sustained during the teams match against Malage back in January.
The injury had times where it did not bother Puyol so he was able to participate in some matches but when it flared up he had to rest. It was Puyol’s decision to wait to have the surgery until the Champions League final.
Dr. Cugat said that the decision on when exactly the player will return is solely up to Puyol but he is likely to be out for two to three months.
