Arsenal delay official Fabregas announcement because their feelings are hurt

The transfer of Cesc Fabregas to FC Barcelona is all done pending an official email from Arsenal confirming the transaction. The problem is that with all the excitement by Barcelona fans and team personnel Arsenal got angry and is delaying their response.
It all stems from what seems to have taken place this morning in a press conference where Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes told the media that the signing of Fabregas was just hours away. Then following Valdes’s statements both Girard Pique and Carles Puyol took to Twitter sending out messages to their millions of followers welcoming Cesc to the club. The tweets sparked a frenzy across media outlets and social networks and the celebration began.
Once Arsenal officials caught wind of the “premature” celebration. Arsene Wenger and others were outraged and at that point decided to stall the proceedings.
At this point Barcelona is just awaiting the confirmation from Arsenal and hopes to have Fabregas in Barcelona by Sunday for medical evaluation and have him presented to the media on Monday.
So the soap opera continues……….

1) I agree with everyone who says Barca are classless! Yes, they are probably the best footballing side at the moment, but their players just can’t keep their mouth shut and I just can’t wait to see those players gone from the footballing world be it through age or injuries!!! Exactly….and now Cesc chose Barca. I for one did not want him back, I wanted him back in a few years when he was free. But you can’t make him a villain because he wanted to return to the club of his youth, or his friends for being happy to have him back.
These football players are humans–they have feelings, they get homesick for their friends and family and their hometowns. It’s logic.
And as for people complaining about the team creating this fuck up of a situation by constantly talking to the press–I assume you have no knowledge of PR? News outlets ask the questions they want answered, which are the ones that are most likely to cause sensation and sell papers. The people getting interviewed, more often then not, are just responding to questions they are getting asked. Again–simple logic. Yes you can choose not to answer these questions, but in their world view, why the hell not? What bad can you see in someone asking you, “Hey, you excited to get your friend back?” Learning when to say “no comment” is something their individual PR teams should be worried about, but more often than not, PR teams for a player aren’t sitting around being considerate of the delicate feelings of a rival team’s fans–they are more often worried about their client not saying something to fuck up their own image.

I won’t descend into throwing cheap insults back via this page, simply say that the behaviour of Barcelona football club over the past couple of years is in no way befitting of the best footballing team on the planet.
Simply stated, Barcelona have been a disgrace. Lowly, arrogant, disrespectful and unnecessarily so. From the near constant whine from Xavi, Pique et all to the public briefings from club officials regarding Cesc I’m left shaking my head as a football fan.
That Cesc wanted to return was not the problem, we as Arsenal fans always anticipated and accepted this.
That Barcelona wanted Cesc was not the problem, he is one of the best players in the world.
The problem comes from the way that Barcelona seem to think that the proper rules of ettiquette and decency do not apply to them, that they are in some way above them. That Arsenal should get on their knees and be pleased that the ‘jmighty Barca’ want to take our best player and pay peanuts in return.
Somewhere along the way Barca developed a messiah complex. The way they have conducted themselves through this whole mess shames a great city, a great people and a great footballing team.

Actually I dont think any true Arsenal fan has a problem with Cesc wanting to go back to Barcelona-he has given us 8 years and that is a very long time in the modern game,however the way Barca have chased Cesc through the media rather than conducting themselves as gentlemen we would not been having this discussion would we? Football, like any team sport, is complex. The loss of Fabregas, however regrettable, will not send Arsenal spiraling down into oblivion.
Barcelona fans can attest to being in this similar situation. Loosing Figo way back when must have felt like the end of the world. It wasn’t.
I, as an Arsenal fan, know this all too often.
Loosing Anelka felt like the end of the world, it wasn’t. Neither was loosing Overmars, Petit, Henry, Viera, Reyes, Adebayor, and countless other players that have benefited from playing in our system.
The keyword being system. I pray Fab4 (or what ever number you guys eventually give him) settles in well with the team’s system. I pray he’s given the patience by the fans to make him thrive. I pray he continues developing at a rate similar to that he experienced at Arsenal. I pray he wins it all (except the CL ie). Most importantly, I pray he isn’t chewed up and spat out like countless other Arsenal -> Barca transfers… Because that will be unfair to everyone involved – Cesc, Pep, Wenger, and both sets of fans.
It hurt me to see the look on Henry’s face when he won the CL, like it had little to do with him. A season later, *puff* Our legend ends up a sideshow in some American vegas act.
Maybe that was because he had emotionally invested the bulk of his good years attaining Legend status, and couldn’t be bothered to repeat the feat. But Cesc is still very young…he’s go 10+ good years left in him. I’d hate for him to be lurking somewhere in Portugal aged 29 because the team that laid so much claim to his talents gave up to early on him.

A few people here have gotten it right, but most of it is partisan squabbling, which becomes nobody.
As I’ve noted before at the blog that I help run, NOBODY has covered themselves in glory during this business: Barca, Arsenal or Fabregas. But Arsenal supporters will blame Barca for somehow making a grown man capable of making his own decisions want to leave. Barca fans will blame Arsenal for keeping a player who signed a long-term, lucrative contract against his will somehow. And Fabregas just sits there with that innocent smirk on his face, as the one individual who could have made this all a lot smoother.
And fans squabble, use unspeakable names and whilst using those names, label another club “classless.” It’s a situation that is fundamentally absurd on every level, as absurd as the fury of the scorned. Suddenly Fabregas isn’t as good as Wilshere, and perpetually injured. Other sites have featured commenters saying that Nasri isn’t that good, either (just in case he leaves for Citeh).
And let’s see. Barca supporters don’t live in Spain, don’t know football, aren’t true fans, etc, etc, etc. Which has nothing to do with anything, except dragging down the level of discourse.
Arsenal picked up Fabregas at the behest of the player and his family. He wasn’t going to get a shot in the side for the same reasons he isn’t starting for Spain.Arsenal made him into one of the best mids in the world, and has been paid handsomely for it. And as with Henry, and Overmars, Arsenal might have sold us a player nearing the end of his maximum effectiveness, for a lot of money. And the player is ready for his next challenge. It’s as simple as that. Why not congratulate him, thank him for the service he has rendered to your club, and wish him well?
Players aren’t traitors for wanting to leave. They’re businessmen seeking the next opportunity. And I’d wager had Wenger, last season, made the moves necessary to get Arsenal to the next level and win silver instead of picking up the likes of Chamakh on a free, Fabregas would still be your captain, instead of our (admittedly) expensive sub.
Players have limited careers, and want trophies and accolades. It happens. His departure won’t be the end of the world for Arsenal. Its supporters should stop acting as though it will be.

Arsenal isn’t a top club who fight for the trophies anymore, so it’s logic players want to leave. Van Persie will be the next one next year. Accept the fact you’re a second-level team and go and tap up some more academy players to compensate for the trophies you can’t win anymore. Long short, I blame all three parties: Barcelona, Cesc, Arsenal.
1. Barcelona for blatant tapping up and classless conducts. Not to mention, the outrageous accusation that we’s “stolen” Cesc, while we have done everything according to the law and rules, unlike the cunts at Catalan.
2. Cesc for not putting the benefits of the club that pays him, builds the team around him and makes him their captain first, for standing aside and watching the cunts do all the dirty work for him as he tries to appear as the innocent one.
3. Arsenal’s board for not having the resolve to tell those cunts to fuck the hell off.
