In a closed training session on Tuesday defender Gerard Pique suffered an injury to his left leg that will keep him sidelined for up to three weeks.

Via the clubs website the injury a statement was issued confirming the injury and that the player will be unavailable for Friday’s Super Cup match against Porto.

Pique will also miss at least the first La Liga match of the season which may not occur for another week and a half following failed meeting once again between Spanish Football Federation and player representatives.

With the club going after their second cup in their quest for all six this season Guardiola will have to get creative in the middle as he is still without the services of captain Carles Puyol who is likely three weeks away from returning.
