Last week FC Barcelona lost winger Alexis Sanchez for eight weeks with a thigh injury suffered in their 2-2 league draw against Real Sociedad.

Last night in Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against AC Milan in Champions League play they suffered another injury to their starting lineup.   This time it was Andres Iniesta who suffered a hamstring tear in the 38th minute of the match.

Following the teams disappointing result Iniesta was checked out by team physicians were they discovered that the midfielder had suffered a torn femoral bicep in his left leg and will need four weeks for recovery.

Coach Pep Guardiola upon hearing confirmation of his star players injures commented, “Andres is a player who has played such a high level for many years now, but sometimes these things happen. He’ll recover. We try to stay on top of injuries like every seasons but sometimes this happens. That’s a common muscle injury.”

The injury blow to Iniesta is bad news for the club who has just received back from injury Carles Puyol, Ibrahim Afellay, Adriano, Maxwell and soon will see Gerard Pique return to the lineup. Cesc Fabregas will now see consistent time in the starting lineup as Iniesta recovers.
